Trans replacement time, Valve body problems with no reverse or high gear shift usually burn up the low/reverse clutch rather quickly. Usually faster than it takes you to figure out it needs work. I rebuild the 4hp24 for $1400.00 and the 4hp22 for $1200.00 with converter and a one year warranty.I can make it shift firmer or softer in any gear too !.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Driving 1992 750il with 157k miles. Recently, transmission feels like is disengaging when I take my foot off the gas, tach revs drop down to idle. One 2-3 occasions, tranny did not immediately shift into reverse from cold start. After short wait, worked fine. Feels like tranny is not shifting into overdrive and sometimes shift between early gears is rough. I get a hiccup on occasion in the lower gears. There are time when everything works fine. Tranny fluid has not been changed in a while, but I am scheduled for a change and flush tomorrow. Does anyone out there have any ideas. Computer readings check out ok. Dealers says I need a new transmission.

Well, you're right. After flush, definitely not reverse. Spoke with Kirt K. and our discussion confirmed symptoms and possible remedies. Decided on trans replacement, not too many other choices. Because of location and timing, can't pursue your rebuild services. Thanks for your prompt response and advice.
