Had the exact same problem for 6 months and could not solve....Local NJ dealer checked all electronics (relays,DK motors, etc.)and patiently (almost 2 weeks!)replaced various systems which did not solve the problem...Put my original items back in and finally settled on replacing the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATORS part #s: 13-53-1-715-685 cost $142 list each less BMW club discount...My fuel pressure checked out fine. All is well and car starts right up whether cold or hot...Good luck.

Ok tried the BMW check vavle fix kit, helps a little, fuel pressure is good. In going deeper to the root of the problem.
When the car is cold, it starts perfect, when the engine is hot and sits for 15min to an hour or the temp needle is still at 12 o'clock it cranks longer then starts, sometimes cranks starts, stalls and can be restarted to run normally right away.
ran the code check , accelerator 5 times key in run, again accelerator 6 times in run,
ecu 1 came back with code 1222 oxygen sensor over or under range, may be a bad lamda sensor. 2nd ecu came back with 1444 no codes found. What are the chances that replacing the oxygen sensors would cure this problem?
Any suggestions appreciated.
I hate toubleshooting by throwing time and money at the problem.
Best regards, Tim
