Jim
I have a 94 740i with 120,000 miles. Recently, I accelerated from a stop to highway speed and the car gave a big rush and then settled down to cruising speed and the transmission program message appeared on the dash. Each time I stop, the car won't move until the rpm hits about 800 and then it just creeps. At about 1100, the tranny kicks in and I can accelerate.(automatic tranny). The owner's manual says replace the transmission control module. Here's the problem, the dealer says the module is in the E-box, my Bentley manual says it's behind the right kick panel, and every source I checked with identifies the part # as a different component.I've gotten 4 seperate answers. Where is it located and what is the part #. Also, does anyone know the relearning procedure for the module? The dealer can't look at the car until Dec. and being in the Air Force, I may not be able to make the appt. Thanks.
