Kay,
Congrats on your new 7...I have a 90 735il...
you will love it...there is something about that
car...just lowered mine. As to what type of fluid..many schools of thought..be sure to check the archives. But since you live in Florida where the temp doesn't drop too far, I would I stick with name brand Dextron III. The trans in our cars is prone to A-clutch failure due to a
particular seal to the A-clutch and you may know
that the molecules of synthetic tend to permeate
marginal seals. There are many tradeoffs..for
example I run Mobil 1 in the engine which is virtually bullet proof. Be sure to drop the
trans pan and change the filter. After that I
would change the trans bath often...remember there is a lot of oil in the torque converter that will only be purged through frequent changing. My trans shifts better than the auto
trans in my 2001 Aurora.
Good Luck and enjoy your great car..excellent
choice.
George

Hi;
I just bought a '92 735iL with 173,000 miles on it. I'm a virgin where BMW's are concerned.
It's in beautiful condition and runs like a champ. I don't have any maintanence records on the car, only what info the carfax gave me before I bought it. The owner's manual in the glove compartment is for the 740/750iL. I need some help in regard to what would be the best oil and transmission fluid to use. It is a gas hog but I live in florida, so i'm sure using the ac doesn't help! I'm really enjoying the car, it's a great ride. I appreciate any input you guys can give me so that i'm not a complete idiot on the subject!
Thanks,
Kay
