Hi Bryan,
I would say the converse..replacing the accumulators should help the life/decrease the
pressure in the shocks. For the record the shocks
in your/my car are more hydraullic slave cylinders
than shocks. The damping modulation comes from
the accumulators or nitrogen cannisters. An over-
simplified explanation is there is a bladder in
each of two accumulators with nitrogen which unlike any fluid is compressible...the reason that Nitrogen is chosen is it is less ideal..
less pressure sensitive to temperature change...
as compared to air for example. The hydraullic pressure through the shock pressurizes the accumulator and if the accumulator is spent or flat the nitrogen has leaked out and therefore there is no complessibility..amount of damping is inadequate...this translates to a hard bouncy ride often reported on the board...your shocks are under greater stress because there is no
compressibility to reduce hydraullic pressure. As far as the shocks leaking..I would go ahead and replace your accumulators. Almost all these shock leak..its just matter of what degree you can tolerate..he..he..kind of like all British
cars leak..good LAD shocks generally have a constant film of oil on them but don't leak on the ground.
Hope this helps.

I was just wondering if you have never replaced the rear shocks and put new accumulators on the LAD will the shocks start leaking more? or will the car sag? my passenger side one is just seeping but the drivers side one is leaking a little more the car doesn't sag. Anyone have any thoughts? I don't want to convert to regular shocks and I don't want to spend $1,000 right now replacing every LAD part when I have other stuff to fix on the car.
