when running on, say an interstate at 80mph, you might hit some pavement undulations with oily spots (where most cars shed oil droplets). on those bumps you would experience severe rear bounce. the car sort of hinges on the front wheels (if your front shocks are ok).
the bounce also occurs at lower speeds - depending on how uneven the road is.
i'd say if you don't have the bounce, the accumulators are not shot. judging by your rear leak, save your money for eurasian's rear lad shocks. make sure it is the shock and not the hose. bentley also says that some fluid leakage past the seals is normal.
btw, i just changed mine about a week ago and the accumulators were a pain to remove. i posted my experience here.
my accumulators were so shot that i could put a weedwacker string straight into each of them (5 or so inches). a new accumulator only allows less than one inch.
