Jim, did the program clear out when you stopped and switched off the ignition and then shift OK? If it did I might be able to shed some light on it. I have a similar car and periodically get the "transmission program" light when I back off the accellerator especially when coasting downhill. I just read a posting on here that reported the crankcase vent valve as being the problem. Mine only does it once every few weeks under specific conditions. It shifts down into "limp home mode" (3rd gear) and stays there untill ignition is turned off and left off for about 30 seconds. That resets the computer and it runs fine untill the next time several miles or or many weeks later. If yours did not clear out, then forget all I have said.
