Dear All,

First of all, thanks to all who have given me advice on my transmission and the archives. Here's the situation, '89 750iL with 130,000 with transmission fluid never changed. At least that I know of. While the first change of fluid, not fiter yet, I collected some of the fluid. The transmission fluid was brown like oil and thick like chocolate milk! Not Good! Changed the fluid (3 quarts) with Valvoline Synthetic Mix (Duroblend) four times over a period of a few weeks. Finally changed the filter this morning; fifth change. The transmission shifter inside the car still get very hot. The metal, underneath the leather handle, is so hot barely touch after about 30-40 miles. Seems to be cooler is the a/c is running, hence the electric fan is running. I should not have to run the a/c to keep the tranny cool. Any ideas? BTW, the pan looked good; no metal shavings.

Jeff
