You know the long straight rod with the gray plastic tip on one end...that's the wheel centering rod and it helps get the wheels on our 7's. You place the plastic end in one of the lug holes, then line th wheel up with the rod that's sticking out and slide the wheel on...it holds the wheel on the hub until you can get a lug bolt in. This might help you guys that are using hub rings too...just slide the hub ring on the rod then the wheel...it's a neat little tool! 8-)

Mike,

I have E39 wheels on my E32. Got them for a bargain that I could not pass up. The offset is not enough for the front to clear the strut towers. You can run them with tires up to 215/55X16 without spacers. I went with 225/55X16 and 1/4" spacers. Also had to use longer lug bolts. Wider tires rub the strut tower on the side, taller tires rub the bottom of the strut spring holder.

Hubcentric spacers are expensive. I went with generic spacers (one size fits all) from a local wheel house and glued them to the hubs with axle grease, centering by finger tip feel all around. Butt-o-meter says balance is good with no vibration. Will keep a close eye on tire wear.

If my daughter gets back from joy riding before dark, will post a photo.
