thanks!!. i WILL CHECK TOMORROW ABOUT THE COPPER NUTS.
You have to replace both the heat shields, one for the front three cylinders and one for the rear three. The job is a lot easier than it looks. Loosen the down pipes from the exhaust manifold, fold the old heat shields up out of the way, unbolt the manifolds, then swap the heat shields. The only problem you run into is if the previous owner did not use copper nuts on the exhaust manifolds. If so, undoing the nuts is very easy. Smart BMW engineers even designed pockets into the lower part of the manifolds to allow the use of deep reach sockets. About 30 minute job (if the nuts are not rusted).Alex
Hi guys, another needed help from the great ones who has kept my bmr running!!!.
Right below the spark plugs, there are two guards attached to the exhaust manifold. each guard covers three of the sparks. Got a hole in it!!!!.
Is there a way to glue or replace something in it ?? it looks like a insulation material or so??
If not, it seems I have to disconect the whole excaust manifold. Any ideas??
Thanks again n advance.
