In Germany you can buy BMWs with many engine/transmission combinations that are not offered in the states. Perhaps some of the German posters might know if the 3.3l 6 was still offered in 88. My guess is there were some FI and emissions related changes in that 5 year span... If you were just going to use the short block, that might make it a possibility provided there were no new crankcase vents etc. in the 88 that the newer FI depends on.

Hi,

Thinking about buying the engine that Rick saw on ebay. I emailed the owner - he swears its only got 100k. He also has an 86 with 170k - but isn't that a bit high?

Its a pretty cheap engine - almost too good to be true - after my recent experience I am a bit distrusting.

So, my trusty friends on the board ~ what do you think??
