1/ The mounts have perished, either on the box it's self or on the engine, or both. Not Difficult or expensive to replace.

2/ Could be a little more Obtuse, It could be an autobox fault, I would contact Kirt Koeller as he's the man on this one!! The Bentley Manual says regarding the Vibration, that it could be the bands starting to Break Down. I'm No Autobox Specialist But Kirt Is, He's the Man!!!!

you are not alone, my 88' 735i is doing the same. If I slow down in traffic for a while I will hear a knocking noise from under the car. This happens a lot after a hard run on the expressway. Diagnosis anyone?
