I just bought a '93 740iL with 93K miles. Is this warranty good on that engine as well (assuming it hasn't been replaced)?
I have one of these babies. First, make sure you have the replacement engine. BMW extended their warranty on the original engine to 100,000 miles due to the fact that the original Alusil blocks began to decompose when exposed to the detergents in our gasoline. You are entitled to a car with a new block. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ONE. Then, assuming the engine is okay, take the car for a test drive. Coast down a long hill with your foot off the gas. Watch the check engine light and make sure it doesn't come on. Or worse, The Trans program warning on the display. Just a word to the wise. Do the coast test to avoid a big, incurable problem with the 94 740i.

I am very close to buying a 94 740i, but I'd like to know what problems I should watch for or check before my purchase. Have there been any recalls, major problems, etc.? I'd appreciate any help. The car has 90,000 miles on it.
Thanks,
Gerry
