The battery on my '88 735i has died and the beast is locked in the driveway. I have tried, to no avail, to unlock the doors manually (lift handle, insert key, turn). The key WILL NOT go past the point of resistance and the door remains locked. What do I do now? Please advise!

i hope that you founded how open you doors.
When i had the same problem,the best thing i ave founded is to jacking the front of the car and put on the wire of the starter a wire connected to a (+) of another battery and the(-) of this battery to the metal of the engine i' am
surprised that nobody have think to that. (sorry for my english i am french).
