The battery on my '88 735i has died and the beast is locked in the driveway. I have tried, to no avail, to unlock the doors manually (lift handle, insert key, turn). The key WILL NOT go past the point of resistance and the door remains locked. What do I do now? Please advise!

Had this problem myself whwere the mechanical function failed to work on passenger door of my 90 735iL. Solution was to supply power via the wires of the trunk light. Much easier than jacking upthe car.
