Intermitant reversing light problem. (archive)

I have a problem with the reversing light on my 88 730ise. When I engage reverse the reversing lights don't always come on, if I fiddle with the gear lever then they come on.

Could someone tell me where the switch is located and how easy it is to replace/fix or botch.
