Cal,
I have a 90 750iL that seems to suck the bottom out of my oil. I have been told by my service guy that, v-12's will use ~qt every 3K, but even more when you drive like a bat out of hell! (This would be me!:)) I seem to burn about a quart every 1200 or so, but I enjoy my big 12, so it is worth it.
