Unlocking when a battery is dead (archive)

Could someone tell me how to unlock the door on my 1988 e32? I know the owner's manual explains how to do it, but the manual is in the car.

The battery is only 9 months old, and it discharged completely over two to three hours. When I tried to start it first, everything seemed fine except the engine did not start due to insufficient cranking power. I suppose it's not a defective battery, but there could be a bad grounding somewhere. Where should I check first?

Thanks in advance
