coolant recirculation passage blockage (archive)

after experiencing some overheating problems (with cold radiator hoses), today i finally attacked the replacement of the thermostat.

along the way i decided to check into the recirculation hose from the radiator to the coolant resevoir. despite blowing compressed air through the hose (up to 125 psi), the final passage in the top of the resevoir is plugged. no wonder my cooling system has been hard to bleed properly!

anyway, will attack the pluggage with a pin or other suitable device once the snowstorm up here passes.

has anyone else had blockage of this magnitude?
