The procedure I have had good luck with is to drain the fluid and replace it with 50/50 trans x tranny cleaner and mercon V synthetic fluid... I've used castrol, but that was just what was handy... I have no information that says castrol is better or worse than other brands... run for 500 miles and drain. Change filter. Refill with the same mercon V synthetic fluid per mfg instructions. Run for 1K miles and drain and refill again. Done. I tend to cycle my fluid with one change every year or about 12k miles afterward and have never had a tranny problem.
Regarding the seat... search the archives... the procedure is there.

I have read several posts and archive threads on transmission fluid changes. I have noted that to change the fluid takes several drain/fill cycles. Most seem to agree that synthetic is best. What brand and where can I get it? I also assume that to change completly the fluid I will need 16-20 quarts? Is this correct? Second question: How do I remove the rear seat to access the battery and relays (my rear defroster doesn't work)
Thanks in advance
