Sorry long post. I took my beloved 1994 740il to a self proclaimed BMW guru for an inspection II service in June. Also had him change the 2 O2 sensors per bentley recommendation as well as change the brake fluid and coolant. After the service I noticed my mpg went from 21-22 to 15-16. I also developed a rough idle in park and every once in a while the engine would rev to about 2200 rpm when placing the transmission into park. Now every once in a while if I let it idle for 5 to 10 minutes the check engine light will come on and stay on till I drive it for 1 to 3 minutes. Haven't read the codes yet, I will try to get them today. Any ideas? could this self proclaimed "guru" have done something wrong while doing the inspection service. Is it possible that he charged me for O2 sensors that he didn"t replace. I ask this because 2 weeks after the service my battery died. (he had to go to the bentley to figure out how to remove the non powered rear seat) The battery had no water in it. Checking the water in the battery was part of the inspection II service. Could the battery went dry in 2 weeks? the charging system checked out fine when tested. ideas?
