power steering fuid mix up?? (archive)

bone head me in the middle of the night without a flashlight put fluid on the reservour and it turned out to be brake fluid. now i hear a groaning sound when i turn the steering wheel. how can i get rid of it? is this something that will hurt it? is the sound normal? need help?
