yourself but I did make it out to the garage to play with my 7 a bit since its been covered for
almost a month now with winter upon us. I purchased some modest rubber spring spacers from
Pepboy's and thought I would install them..pretty
easy. Connected the battery and the motor fired
up immediately..I really like this car.
Warmed it up a bit and then drove it on to a small
wooden lift so I can get my floor jack under it.
Jacked it up and installed the spacers. The lift
achieved is about 3/8" just like another gent with
Bav Auto Springs on the E-34 board that provided
this tip as he wanted his car to sit a bit higher
in the front and negate occasional bottoming. I really like the way the car sits now...still low and mean but not too low in the front..didn't drive it because the roads are salty..so put Lexol on the seats went over the body with Meguire's instant detailer and covered it back up..oh yeah..listened to a Sting CD (I just burned)
on the car CD player while I was working on it...waiting for a decent day...am excited about
driving it in the spring because as you know the
car was apart all last year...which wasn't all
bad because I live working on it almost as much
as I live driving it.
Sounds like you did the right thing with your
driveshaft..that's a job you don't want to do
again anytime soon.
You going to pull the oil pump out of your 6-series?
Also, you been catching any of the Barett-Jackson auction on Speedvision??..some real fat cats out there.

Hi George,
No, have not yet replaced the driveshaft. Ordered a rebuilt unit with greasable u-joints but the front tube had a weld seam midway down the tube. Found out that the front section from two different driveshafts had been welded together. Despite guarantee from seller, was not happy so I returned the driveshaft.

This weekend re-installing alternator, replacing air flow meter and all rubber hoses, and replacing instrument cluster lamps.

How about you?

Alex

your project..and congrats on your opportunity
to indulge your passion..wife being out of town that is..he..he.
While on the subject, since you and I and many
board members have had these cars all apart..I
love the design of the belt tensioners ..what attention to detail..never seen any
thing else like it. Believe the reason that many
just don't get why Bimmers are so great..my g/f
for example, is you have to be a gearhead to see the beauty.
Best Regards,
George
