The Biggest Pain in the A!! When Changing V-belts (archive)

is that the franchise parts stores don't have properly cross referenced parts. A few weeks ago I changed the A/C v belt and it took three trips to a foreign parts store and then they had to order from another store. Their vendor P/Ns cross referenced parts that were the wrong size. Today I decided to change the two other belts. The alternator belt fit but the power steering pump didn't. Looking at the P/N for the PS belt indicated that it was 10mm larger than what was required. I watched the salesperson pull the numbers right off the computer and he pulled the correct P/Ns based on the mfg description. I guess there are some people in the world that still can't convert English to metric. Lesson learned here is to buy belts from the stealer or one of the many parts houses Zygmunt, Bavarian, etc..on the web.

Thanks,
