Driver door UNLOCK problem (archive)

When I lock the car with a key, everything is fine, but, when I unlock the car, the driver door door doesn't - the button d/n go up. So, I have to pull it up from the rear.
I took the door panel out & discovered that a plastic part that is a part of window lifter assembly (that's how the parts people at my dealer termed it), that thing that is held in place by 3 nuts, has broken completely. The dealer insists I can't replace that part alone and that I have to buy the whole new "window lifter" assembly for around $165. I tried using Crazy Glue on it, but it only held for a couple of door closings & then broke again. Taping it together did not do the trick either. I hate the fact that BMW has us by you know what and forces us to buy entire assemblies of something instead of selling us separate components. If someone knows of a part I'm talking about, can you offer any suggestions as to what I should do?

Many thanks in advance.
