HELP HOW DO I REMOVE THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER? (archive)

Last night I went to start my car as usual but the ignition would not turn all of the way. I tried for about half an hour before finally something moved and I was able to turn the key all of the way, but now when I start my car the ignition sticks when the engine starts and I have to turn the ignition back manually instead of it springing back automatically.

Please can anyone tell me how I remove my ignition cylinder from my 1987 730i se Auto.? Can I do it myself, this would be good as I am trying to fix it myself before I go to BMW.
