you to pull the tranny..hence it is expensive...that is probably your issue..less likely the valve body. If by unlikely chance it is your valve body the V/B can be changed with the trans in the car...much less money.
Your options are as described to the gent below
with the 740il. Find a used trans..crap shoot..
but relatively inexpensive..call around to BMW
reclaiming yards..if you can, find out the vehicle history from where the trans came from..
will help your decision but no guarantee...find an independent shop to put it in. I would stay
away from the dealership..they are basically
robbers.
A remanufactured unit is about $1800 US...contact

George: Thanks for the reply. I am unsure of the extent of repair required for this issue. How much does a clutch pak cost? I am in Canada, but will convert your estimate if you tell me it is in U.S.
