I have a 535i. And I have replaced the idler arm.

From memory the difficult part was the pulling of the steering arm from the idler arm. I rented a idler arm puller set from a local auto parts store. This was key.

As far as the difficulty is concerned it isn't too hard you just have to be patient.

The rear suspension has lateral locating links common referred to as dog bones. I haven't replaced mine yet but I plan to.

I have a 88 735i. I was wondering if replacing the rear and front idler arms would be very difficult. It would save me $300 to do it myself. Has anyone done so or attempted, difficult or not to difficult?
