We've posted a lot of info on the issue. Try the "search" function (which works terribly) and search for "buying" "buying info" "what to look for" etc etc.

The main thing is to have the dealer cheack it out before purchase, even though that might cost some that inverstement will pay itself back.

There's all sorts of electric gremlins you can expect but these are in most cases rather easy and unexpensive to fix.

What takes more money and effort are the bushings and joints which, unless previous owner changed them, are all ready to be changed.

Tranny issues are rather common but the 730i has significantly less power so it might be okay. MAke sure the fluids have often been changed.

The engines, if treated right, will practically run forever so engine trouble is less likely to occurt long as you service it and have the valves adjusted (6-cyl).

The 730i has been available both in 6-cyl and V8 versions. V8 is very sophisticated and has for instance a separate coil for each cylinder. Frankly, I'd like one of those.

Good luck and let us know how it turned out.

HEnkka
