Fit a nice meaty V8/V12 Instead, Probably easier than what you intend! I mean 300hp+ surely that'll be enough for you, I even live up the rodd from you, Me n' the mates will come n'help oot' (Provided there's Tea/Coffee + Biscuits!!)

P.S Ah ain't no sassenach!!! Born n' bread CLYDEBANK, home of the Shipyards!!!

Evening,or is it morning, all,
I've looked in the archive for info on this but to no avail, the question is: can a 5 speed autobox, a la E38, E34 etc, be fitted to an 89 730 E32?
The real reason I ask is that the top ratio on the 4 speed is 1:1, and for relaxed cruising an overdrive ratio 1:0.74 would really boost fuel economy. An alternative would be to alter the ratio of the existing box, but that seems a bit of a nightmare.
Before anyone suggests changing the diff. ratio, that's a no no as I don't want to lose what acceleration there is.
I was surprised not to find any references to this, or is it just obviously such a crock of sh!t to everyone else but me. :¬(

Thanks in advance

I reckon you've got a good idea there Dave...a big V8 say 454ci along with a enormous blower and a whacking big set of MT's....could see some nice quarter mile times a Crail (local 1/4 mile drag strip)MM??
