Thanks so much for the info! The plan I was looking at (Platinum Warranty Corp) cost about the same as your plan. I just discovered they won't cover V12 cars! Darn. I think I'll buy a Ford :(

Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

Neel

The extended warranty contract I have is from a company called Online Auto Care of America administered by EFG, P.O Box #167667, Irving, TX 75016 with a phone number of 800-527-1984. A couple of web site addresses that you can try are www.autoclubamerica.com and/or www.mpa-online.com.

The actual contract I have is their Used/Platinum Coverage and was for 3 years and 36,000 additional miles. My plan started on Oct, 13, 2000 when my 740iL had only 46,084 miles on it and the plan cost $1099.

The plan lists the defective parts that it will cover and that is a problem because that leaves out a lot of parts that could fail that the plan won't cover. Until jusgt recently, I never had any failures after I purchased the plan but had to fix an inoperative cruise control system (repair cost $850) and also had to replace a defective fuel tank guage sensor in the tank (repair cost $457). It appears that my contract would have covered those items if I would have had it in effect at that time. Just recently the car started leaking coolant on an intermittent basis. The problem turned out to be the thermostat housing assembly at the front of the engine with a repair cost of $350 which will not be covered by my contract since this housing is not a listed as a covered part in the cooling system. Darn!
