strut tubes that protect the shock..if you look
at the ETK, there is also an accordian plastic
tube or convoluted tube that will compress when
the fairly violent shock full jounce/bump stop
compression occurs. I don't personally believe the short hard plastic tube retains the cellulose
bump stop very effectively..I discarded them therefore and replaced with the corregated tube..
same design that came off my 90 735il.

Dunno if your "cushions" are the bump-stops that go over the strut shaft, but mine were marginal, and not holding the protection/guard tubes dead-center. OK, apart from when the wheel gets lifted, then I have to watch the strut-insert holding nut doesn't crush the guard tube...

Just a thought.
