I am in the process of replacing my system right now.. I started out with a Kenwood Cd head unit and changer controller with CD text.. Next thing you know, I ended up replacing the factory component speakers in the car with MB Quart components (kept the door tweeters), and I felt I wanted more bass.. Well then I ended up removing the rear shelf, cutting some sections out of the steel deck, and mounting 2 JBL 12" woofers, upfiring through 6x9 speaker grills in the rear shelf over the woofers(looks better than huge 12" round grills, and is less of a target to theives looking for big woofers for their riced out Hondas!) I Added a good deal of soundproofing while I was at it to try to reduce ambient resonance. A Kenwood 4 channel amp (100w @4 ohms)mounted in the trunk and the MB Quart crossovers rounds out the system. It REALLY is a stong sound now. I ended up running new monster speaker wires and RCA cables too, completely by-passing the remnant of the old system. Funny how a little thing like wanting a CD player can baloon isn't it! :) So careful not to lose your head when getting a new head unit! Ha HA!
Why did I choose Kenwood? Mostly because I liked the sound and the features, especially the CD changer controller. So when I add a changer (later when my wallet recovers) All I have to do is plug it in. Also cause I got a good deal on the head unit..
I WILL miss trying to find where I stored the radio code though.. and my fader switch is not a vestigial organ.
Its realy up to you and what you like. Good luck!

I was just wondering (since I've been away from car stereo's since my more formatable years), what general consensus was. I plan on replacing the head unit (Pioneer KH83) with something more up to date....Sony explode or something like that. If any of you have replaced your components in the last year, what direction did you go?
