You're right, it is the left side. Your sensor probably just failed and is now grounding the sense wire. Did you replace the sensor when you did the brakes, or did you try to reuse the old one?

I replaced the front pads 4000 miles ago...and yesterday, BINGO...."BRAKE LININGS" message accompanied by a high-speed grinding from the front brakes. Is this possible? Could it be that something wasn't installed correctly or that a caliper has been dragging? If I recall, there is only a wear sensor on the left brake...so the problem (if any) would be on that side, right?

While on the subject, is there any way to get rid of that annoying GONG and "BRAKE LININGS" message in the mean time?
