Thanks Rainman. I was able to use the info you supplied to get in the car. I follow this diagram and performed it on the drivers side door.

It took a few times before it 'caught' but the door unlocked without any heavy muscle.

you can see you have to go beyond 90 degrees.

Okay, my battery is dead and I'm locked out. I've tried the turning the key and lifting the door handle to no avail. I can open the trunk with the key, but that's it.

I've hear that it might be possible to use a coat hanger to pop the hood and then jump a battery to get the locks working.

Anyone have experience with this? Oh, it's an 89 750iL.. and I can see my bently book sitting in the back seat.
