I'm having a little trouble understanding a few things you said in your post: what do you mean by the boot, and the sun panel [panal]? And whenn you refer to tthe reading light, are you referring to the two manally switchable lights above the rear skylight, on the sides? If so, it seems to me that your problem is the middle of the three switches in the light cluster on the ceiling just behind the mirror. I am assuming your doors switches are okay since you did not mention that one or more of the door switches is working. You have to remove that light cluster to work on it by prying it out with a small screwdriver from the LEFT side. There is a metal catch holding it in place. After removing the cluster from the hole, use a test light or continuity tester to make sure the light assembly is receiving voltage. Test it with the door OPEN, otherwise the door switch will cut off the flow. If you have juice to the switch, jump the switch with a wire or paperclip. If the
lights come on, your switch is faulty. Unfortunately, the switch is a sealed unit and cannot be disassembled. If the switch is the problem, drip a little light lubricant into the hole where the wires enter the switch. Work the switch back and forth for a minute or so to clear the oxidation from the contacts inside. It may take as much as a few minutes of flipping the switch to clear the contacts. If you still have problems, or you do not understand these directions, email me.// Good luck...Bill '88 735i

Hi,

I drive a 750il(`88 model),I have a problem with the interior lights.
When I open the door or turn of the engine they don`t come on.
They being the front and back int. light and the 4 lights on the bottom of the doors.
However I do have a light in the glove compartment and boot and the reading lights (front and back) also work.
Also the lights under the sun panal work on the outside but not on the inside..meaning on each panal one light out of 2 works??
Sugestions would be welcome.
