Tony:

I know of no online source of illustrations of the procedure.

First remove power flow regulator this way: with engine off, pump brake at least 20 times to bleed off all pressure. Completely clean power flow reg, since you will need to remove it, and you do not want the brake system contaminated.

Remove and label the electrical wires from the two pressure switches. (They're under protective rubber caps.)

Remove the hydraulic lines from the regulator. Be certain you remember where they go back, since they must not be confused.

Remove regulator by removing two mounting nuts.

Place regulator in soft-jaw vise, and unscrew accumulator by hand, with an oil filter wrench, or a strap wrench.

Install new accumulator on regulator.

Reinstall regulator.

Tighten all fittings to specified torque: Accumulator to regulator: 35 ft/lbs.
line from power flow regulator to steering gearbox: 35 ft/lbs.
line from regulator to power steering pump: 30 ft/lbs.
line from regulator to brake booster: 23 ft/lbs.
return pipe from regulator to fluid reservoir: 12 ft/lbs.

Adjust brake pedal height if needed.

Bleed POWER STEERING system (power steering uses the same regulator.)

Run engine and operate brake pedal.

Check hydraulic fluid level.

That's it.//Bill 735i

Bill, I have a 1988 735i. The accumulator is located at the middle right of the vehicle under (2) pressure switches.

Thanks for the help,

Anthony

Can someone please tell me, or show me step by step directions how to remove and install a new brake bomb? I would also like a website where I can find the part (accumulator) for cheap.

Thanks,
BIGANT 735i
