That still doesn't put any wiring in your car. You can always get a remote and a receveirbox with cables from the scrapyard and install this. But how's this different than putting in a universal remote ?

I think the service manager meant to say that you can have a remote from another car programed to be used on your car. Still then you'd need to have the keylessentry option and thus a controlbox in your car.

I just asked this question at enterprise motors in wisconsin. I asked the service manager for help. My question was can you take a keyless remote out of another bmw that was equiped with tthe keyless system. He said that it is possible but you have to replace a chip that is in one of the computers. What I would do is call a local BMW dealer and talk to someone in service. They are usually extremelly nice and will help out whenever they can. Otherwise email me and I will give you the name and number of the service man that I talked to.
