I also have a '94 740IL. That is a single code 1222 (they are 4 digits). It is the #2 lambda control which could be just about anything. Usually vacuum leak somewhere from my experience. I just went through the process of tracing vacuum leaks and replaced the intake manifold gaskets, the front and rear manifold covers and most of the vacuum lines. Problem solved.

www.bonnevillemotorwerks.com My 94 740il just started to run rough and gave me a check engine light. I pulled the codes (5x on the gas)and came up with #12 & 22. The archive shows a link to a site with the list thats not there any longer.
If anyone could post the code list I'd appreciate it.
