How to tighten multi-rib belt (alternator side)? (archive)

I just tightened the multi-rib belt two months ago and that was not difficult while the radiator was out. This time I replaced the LAD/steering pump and couldn't figure out how to do it again. With the radiator in, there is only four inch of space. Could someone tell me whether there is any trick to push on the belt tensioner pulley? There seems no room to apply any brute force.
