as it turns out Bob...didn't want to employ your method..thought it was clever but the mandrels on these plastic rivets are very small in diameter
and didn't want to thread into them with a small
screw. So I removed the fleece truck partition/jack cover and took a dull center punch and pushed the pins "through" the lipped plastic ferrules. The great news is I successfully retrieved all four little pins...no harms to the
fasteners.
So Chuck, I can now reuse them. Pretty easy to replace the trunk seal from there.

In Lowes's Specialty bolt bins you can find replacements for the plastic. Lucked across them one day looking for metric nuts and bolts during my driveshaft ordeal.
