Maybe not. I have an '88 North American 735i , build date 5/88, that does *not* have one. Is yours maybe a Euro delivery car? I just found out today that while mine doesn't have LAD, some of the Euro short wheelbase 735s of that vintage did. So clearly there were some variations based on final destination.
