The Bently manual makes the job of repalcing a brake bomb on a 92 sound so easy. I'm unable to drop the brake bomb. The steel hydralic lines do not allow the bomb to drop low enough so that I can access the flare nuts from under the vehicle. It appears that I have to access them from above by loosening the ABS unit or undoing the lines from their source.

Is there something I'm overlooking? What's the best way to access the flare nuts?

George; This ain't easy. I have a 1988 750 and I took the foglight out, the alternator cooling panel out and finally (don't tell any purists) I CUT a window in the fender liner adjacent to the bomb, then I could loosen the flare nut, then loosen the two support nuts and drop the bomb. Now you can loosely put bomb in place, position and tighten the flare nut (make sure you have an "O" ring to go on threaded portion of the bomb) then, bolt her back together. I then cut a small piece of black plastic a bit larger than the opening I cut in the liner, drilled holes through plastic and fender liner (in each corner) and put a plastic interior body panel push pin in each corner, OH, and a bit of RTV between plastic and liner. I now have instrant acces to the bomb's flare nut.

Sorry for the lengthy rant and be sure not to tell anyone what a sin I have committed.

Bear
