When I start up the car at night, both the left and right sets of buttons are illuminated red so you can see which to push when it is dark. But after a minute, the left side starts flickering on and off for maybe a minute, and then goes off for good. The green LED's still work to indicate which button is pushed. All 3 red LEDs act in unison.

Hi Steve,

I had exactly the same problem and I can tell you that almost certainly one of your LEDs is about to fail. They are wired in series in sets of three, that's why they flash in unison.

I waited until it failed completely, then tested for the open circuit LED. Having said that mine started flashing on the way home from work one day and was completely broken by the time I got home so I didn't have to wait long. I replaced the duff one with a new amber LED and it has worked fine ever since.
