You are referring to the "OBC", but I think the OBC refers to the readout on the right side of the radio. Anyway, I have that glowing dashboard problem sometimes, too, and I can get it to go off by tapping on the top of the dashboard right over the cluster, so I'm sure it's just a bad connection in there. One of these days I'll get industrious, and get in there and fix it right. //Bill '88 735i

light would just quit glowing. Bob did your cluster have problems with the OBC lights glowing?

Thanks Bud,
Mark

I have caused similar symptoms to my cluster as you are referring to. I assume you removed and reinstaled the cluster (hard to do the capacitor fix with the cluster in place! LOL). The connections on the back of the cluster are VERY sensitive. If you have ANY wires in the way that press against them when you reinstall the cluster or if you don't get them plugged in or locked down with the levers you can get wierd-a** stuff like you describe! I was right where you are feeling but then I gave is another go and this time when the cluster was out, I got back in there with my wire ties and secured everything safe and out of the way. That fixed it! Now things work normally again. Good Luck!!

Well folks I'm about to jump off a cliff. I installed a new ignition switch today that I thought might be the root cause of the trip OD restting, irregular chiming, OBC light glow etc. Also have had the five typical caps replaced. While sitting in the garage observing the cluster while I started the up a few time the cluster starts to get bonkers on me. The fuel, economy, tach and temp gage freeze at a an incorrect reading. After a five second delay when the car is shut down the OBC starts to glow and then the gages go back to the rest position. I disconnected the battery for a minute and the gage go back to normal but the oBC glows. After driving a friend's brand new Avalon yesterday it is looking like I may be future Avalon owner. I am getting tored of this shit. Sorry to rant but I am tired of it.
