Had a look in the Bentley. Could find the "Electric Power Protection Relay" in the Power Distribution ELEs (not sure what year/model you've got, but it seems to be the same for all variants). It derives power from fuse 47, which in turn is on the Fusible Link B from the battery. Pins 6 & 8 are powered, but I can't find the relay in the ground distribution ELEs. The fuse table states this fuse is for "Central Body Electronics (ZKE)" also using fuses 17, 30 & 44. I can't find any reference to the relay in the ELEs for power locks, windows, seats, mirrors, sunroof etc, etc, which is what I would class as CBE(ZKE). Hopefully, someone will post a reply who actually knows what it is used for, but so far I can't give you anymore info.
