believe most cost effective route is to buy a
used engine...particularly if you know its
background..follow up on that. Also there was
a gent who just reclaimed his wrecked 750il..
may have been a 91..believe his name was Dale..
car looked pristine..and think it was low miles...
I would try to contact him as well. Second thing
is are you sure your 750il bottom end has had it?..they will generally go in excess of 200K with no problems...you may only need the top of engine rebuilt..much cheaper...don't have to pull the motor. Lastly I will leave you with a funny
anecdote about the big six E-32. Remember talking
to a BMW wrecking yard...and casually speaking of
the M-30 engine. The guy said yeah..know about
that engine....we just threw out a couple last week. I said...What??..What do you mean you threw
two good M-30 engines out. He said that engine is
so reliable there is virtually never any demand
for it..ha..ha. Pretty amazing.
Good Luck..you will get your 750 back in shape..
make darn sure you need a whole motor before you
tear it up.
