..many failures reported for the same reason I explained in my post...even more precipitous than a complete fluid change in terms of liberating deposits from v/b and cooler and plugging trans. Other reason is it is harmful to push high pressure through the delicate valve body to clean it when it isn't designed to sustain those pressures. Your call.

The good news is that the fluid does not smell burnt. I also ran the fluid through a strainer and there is no particulate. Seems to be running good since I changed the fluid. Will probably take it to a shop that has one of those T-Tech systems which completely flush all old fluid and replace with new. Will then drop pan, replace filter, and replace the 3.7 quarts from the pan with synthetic.
