Most stereos nowadays have a seperate switching connection for amps - consult your manual.

Failing that, the only thing I can think of is to use the accessories position of your ignition switch to operate the amp, possibly with a switch mounted on the dashboard so that you can control it manually

Sadly I dont have a separate control wire as on the later Sony xplode units, I have found a way round it though, it all works if I turn on the TA setting for the RDS, this will have to do till I get a new head unit. The original plan was to run my JBL rear speakers of two of thw channels and the sub (2x 10" in a band pass box) of the other two. After wiring up the four chanels bridged to the sub, the sound was so much better im going to have to buy a second amp as well. Thanks for the advice.
