I made a second attempt to reapir the cluster in hopes of curing some problems since the caps were replaced. I took the circuit board into the office for the electronics tech to replace some transistors that Max Fretter suggested may be the problem. He tested the transistors as suggested and they were ok so I asked him to check all the transistors and the caps. He did find one bad transistor is the middle of the caps in the upper right hand corner. He replaced the transistor but the bulbs behind the LCD still glow when the car is shut down and the trip OD resets upon start up. The good news is it appears the chiming may have stopped. I'm thinking that Kevin's suggestion that there is a grounding problem somewhere external to the cluster is the problem. I plan to check ground 202 in the next couple of days. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
